New Orleans, LA – When I saw that Thomas Jones, Roman Ellis, and Jon Reynolds would be in a comedy show together, I knew I had to be there. Once I found out that it was PowerPoint-based, the goofy little academic in me was glowing with complete and utter excitement. 

“Trust Me, I’m a Professional: A PowerPoint Comedy Show” is described as “TED Talks meet laughter with lectures by local comedians,”… and I’m mad you missed it. 

Where were you on March 22, 2025? This locally produced show at Big Couch was an absolute delight. 

The night starts with Thomas Jones’s cleverly crafted slide presentation about the show’s ground rules, featuring examples from some of the worst crowds in recent history. 

Keeda with a Q’s presentation “All The Places You Will and Won’t Go Being a Hoe” was a riveting and raunchy info session. “Everybody can’t be a hoe,” says Keeda with a Q. “Some people would rather grout tile than sell pussy.” This presentation truly explored the possibilities one could achieve through key results and key point indicator informed hoeing. From obtaining homes to free tacos, I’m mad if you missed this masterclass in Hoeology 101. 

Next up, Mallory Head, a Mississippi native with an important point for those big-time Hollywood executives. Head’s presentation: “Everyone Should Be Using Southern Accents in Old-Timey and Fantasy Movies: A Plea to Hollywood” is objectively correct. This is not a matter of opinion, and anyone who disagrees with this proposal will be placed on academic probation. A mix of history and creative reimagining, Head’s plea has me incredibly disappointed that The Witcher will have Liam Hemsworth and not Matthew McConaughey as the titular character. My Change.org request to right this wrong is coming soon.

You have two choices. Blue Door, you can go back in time to the beginning and fix all your mistakes, OR Red Door, you get $10 million dollars. Which will you choose? Jon Reynolds’ “Blue Door vs Red Door: Ruinous Option” explains precisely why choosing Blue Door is a mistake through hilarious but compelling reasons. In essence— starting from day one ain’t worth it; just take the money. 

Finally, we close out the show with probably the most expensive and cleverly curated PowerPoint I’ve ever seen. Roman Ellis’ “Monetizing Your Death: Posthumous Influencer & Collaborative Corporate Funding” was, and I can’t not stress this enough, beyond brilliant. For the sake of this presentation, Ellis is a father, pilot, sensei, and bassoonist presenting from beyond the grave with an important question: Why not rest in profit? The set features Cameo appearances from some of your favorite D-list celebrities and a former White House staff member paying their respects to a great man who is #GoneTooBassoon.

Despite my utter disappointment in you missing this hilarious, great time that made me laugh so hard my earring flew out of my ear and shot out into the front row, luckily for you, “Trust me, I’m a Professional: A PowerPoint Comedy Show” is a bimonthly series.
